Patrick Bennett

Hertfordshire Wedding
Photographer

Hi, my name is Patrick and I’ve been a Hertfordshire wedding photographer for over 20 years and won several Wedding Industry awards in that time. I’m based in Hertford, Hertfordshire but my photography regularly takes me to a vast array of wedding venues in London, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Wilshire. It’s even taken me to such destinations as Italy, France, Portugal, and Ireland. If there’s a couple in love I’ll be there wherever it is!

Wedding photography is something I’ve always had a genuine passion for, and what first inspired me to become a wedding photographer was when I saw our wedding photographs 23 years ago. Knowing what they meant to us made me want to do it for others.

My journey has been a very ‘organic’ one! I love nothing more than capturing moments that will bring back memories, take couples back to the moment they were captured and allow future generations to ‘feel’ that moment too. I’m always aware that I’ve been entrusted with a couple’s wedding and still treat each and every one with the same enthusiasm that I did my first, which was over 1,000 weddings ago!

‘a moment in time’

the most loved images captured when you didn’t even know it

My style is for couples wanting beautiful wedding photographs captured in a relaxed, candid and natural way that’s always fun too (if you get a moment please see my testimonials page and you’ll see first-hand from my fabulous couples).

You, your family and friends will all have been looking forward to The Big Day for many months so although I do capture family and couples’ posed shots, I still approach this in a fun and relaxed manner which in turn creates beautiful natural smiles, photographs and memories of you and your guests in all your glory!

Ultimately, your wedding album should be something you can hand to someone who wasn’t there and for them to be able to re-live it all; from the bridal preparation shots right through to the couple leaving and getting those last hugs of the day right at the end of the night. For me, the day is far from over at the first dance!

… but that’s not all I do!

The thing that gives the buzz is photographing people, be that a relaxed headshot showing people off at their best, or a family portrait capturing moments they will cherish for generations to come. It’s genuinely what drew me to becoming a photographer.

My passion for photography has also led me to commercial photography shoots, and it’s a joy to capture in an image the passion a company has for what they create or an event they are hosting.

Having been a musician for over 35 years, something that personally connects with me is capturing live music events. Moments at a gig can be so fleeting and it feels good to freeze a moment in time, be that the look on the face of the person performing or the reaction from the crowd. It’s a moment that can’t be faked, and it’s all the better for it!

Commercial photography

Every company is unique and it is that which I love to capture. I love getting the feeling for what a company does and the elements they are most proud of. Commercial photography for me isn’t simply taking a photograph of a finished product – it needs to reflect a company’s brand message, their passion for what they do and answer the question as to why they should be entrusted with a client’s commission!

When it comes to headshots they say that “people buy people” so I like to get to know the person I’m photographing a little better, put them at ease and then create an image that says something about them! It also goes a long way in saying how professional you are with all aspects of your business! A professional image can also be, and should be in my opinion a relaxed and honest portrayal of the person, whilst undoubtedly captured professionally. In companies it also creates a brand identity which again shows a level of care and attention to detail.

Portrait photography

With the advent of mobile phones and their amazing cameras, it has become more popular for people to capture their own family portraits. That said, there’s always one person missing – the person taking the photograph! There is also obviously a skill to taking a beautifully composed and creative image albeit in a relaxed manner, that ultimately sets apart a professionally captured image. I love the feeling that an image I take today will still be cherished for generations to come – it genuinely makes me feel good!

Live Event photography

Live event photography can be a little like jumping out of a plane – you never know quite where you’re going to land – but you do know it’s going to be a ride! There’s genuinely something special about seeing and freezing the look on a performer’s face, their passion for what they do and the reaction on the faces of those relishing in the moment. That moment could last a tiny fraction of a second, but once captured can never be forgotten.

“From the first chat we had with Patrick right though to collecting our wedding albums & photos, the service we received was exceptional. Patrick listened to what we wanted and all the time made us feel at ease, on our wedding day we never felt pressured to have photos taken, they just happened due to Patrick’s amazing talent.

We were overwhelmed with our photos and couldn’t have asked for a more amazing memory to look back on our special day. We have had a number of lovely comments about our photos, with our guests saying they are the best wedding photos they have seen.

I would not hesitate to recommend Patrick to our family and friends and I hope in the future to have the pleasure of using Patrick’s Photography again.”
